Apple Galette

Apple Galette is one of the first things that we plan for our kids to cook in the classroom, in order for us to get an idea of how much they know, and how they handle utensils.  The beauty of pre packaged puff pasty, is that is can be cut into any shape, and the end result is pretty impressive.  I love that it can be adapted to apple galette, peach galette, pear galette, strawberry  etc.... just about anything fruit that has been sitting in the fruit bowl for far too long.  I will often use daggy old apples, cut off the yuk bits and the end result is lovely.  A sprinkle of icing sugar creates a beautiful end result.  Ice cream, cream, sweetened yoghurt, or even a drizzle of kefir will balance out the galette.  Great picnic food, they can be eaten cold the next day.

  • 1 (25 x 25cm) puff pastry sheet
  • 2 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbs melted butter
